Three Fridays in December
Something a little different this month. There isn’t one serious theme but a collection of non-work-related things we’ve been doing in December.

This Friday, managing director Paul Bates will become a ‘Dragon’ for the day at Hamsey Green Primary School, Warlingham, Surrey.
At the end of September, I was asked to give a speech in front of the Sutton United Business Club luncheon group. The event attracted 76 delegates from 62 Sutton-based businesses. I decided to talk on a range of subjects, starting with a general overview of modern pest control and British attitudes to pest control.
Last month I wrote about the problem of identifying who was at fault in cases of rented property and bed bug infestations. During the blog I alluded to the problem of ‘phantom biters’, something every pest controller has had to deal with at some time or other, and I thought this might be a good topic as Halloween approaches.
Croydon-based Cleankill Pest Control is advising homeowners to adopt its seven simple steps to avoid rodent infestations this winter.
As the nights draw in, and food and warmth become scarcer, rats and mice will begin to view our centrally heated homes as desirable nesting sites for the winter months. Cleankill is now reporting an increase in rodent infestations at both business premises and households and is taking the opportunity to advise customers on the best ways to avoid an invasion.
Those of you who have been following my blog for some time will know I have a particular dislike for bed bugs. In March 2016, I wrote a long blog about how I’d noticed bed bugs has been taking over the news. To read that blog, click here.
It’s August, so it must be wasp-time!
When a customer called us to help solve a mysterious smell that was beginning to seep through the house we didn’t anticipate quite such a challenging job.
But the Cleankill team is never afraid of a challenge even though the situations we find ourselves in sometimes would make you come close to vomiting.
Cleankill Pest Control has been announced as sponsor for the category of ‘Customer Service’ at the inaugural ARMA ACE Awards. Organised by the Association of Residential Managing Agents (ARMA), these awards recognise excellence and exceptional achievement by the UK's leading residential managing agents, their suppliers and the work of their people in improving the lives of thousands of leaseholders across the country.
I have been looking through the promotional plans for May and it is definitely going to be a busy month with three business expos in two days. On 10th May we will again be at Kent Vision Live, taking place at The Kent Event Centre. With over 3,000 participants coming together at the Detling Showground, near Maidstone, this exposition describes itself as the “South East’s premier B2B exhibition and the largest event of its kind in the UK.”
